What is AI citation visibility?

AI citation visibility is how often AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity name or cite your brand when buyers ask questions in your category. A growing share of buyers now asks an AI instead of scrolling search results, and the AI's answer effectively writes the shortlist. The practice of improving this is often called GEO, short for generative engine optimization.

Why is the scan free?

The scan is free because it is our lead-in product: no strings attached, no card, no obligation. It gives you real measurements against your own brand so you can decide whether the problem is worth solving before any money changes hands. And if the scan shows your buyers are not asking AI engines about your category yet, we will tell you that plainly, and you should keep your budget.

Do you guarantee results?

No. AI answers are non-deterministic and no one controls what an engine says, so anyone promising you a placement is overpromising. What we commit to is the protocol: weekly measurement, honest frequencies, and per-query movability labels so effort goes where movement is plausible. We ran the very first scan on our own product brand. Being measured by the same yardstick we sell is part of the deal.

How long until we see movement?

Typically 2 weeks to 3 months, depending on movability. Queries that respond to content and entity work can move within weeks; queries dominated by aggregators or entrenched brand recall take longer, and some are unlikely to move in the short term at all. The scan and the weekly report label which of your queries fall into which group.

Which engines do you measure?

We currently measure ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity. Google AI Overviews is in preparation: there is no official API yet, and we add an engine once we can run our full protocol against it rather than approximating.

Why do you report frequency instead of a simple yes or no?

Because yes/no would be misleading for a non-deterministic system. The same question can cite your brand at 9 a.m. and skip it at noon, so we ask each question 3 times per engine and report "cited in 2 of 3 runs." Frequency is a measurement; a single run is a coin flip.

What happens to my data?

We use what you submit solely to run the scan and deliver your report, and we delete it on request. Write to us any time. Scan data is stored separately from our research measurements and is not folded into them. The details are in our privacy policy.

How is this different from SEO?

SEO optimizes your position in a ranked list of links; we work on being named and cited inside a generated answer. The overlap is real, since clean structure and earned references help both, but the measurement is different (frequency across repeated AI runs, not rank positions), and so is part of the work (entity consistency, citable sources, third-party corroboration). Good SEO is a foundation, not a substitute.
